SOME OF MY PHOTOS OF HQ SQUADRON
I was posted to the Sqn straight from Cove in March 1970.My First 3 months were spent in the SGTs Mess as barman.SGT Yorkie Stone (37 Sqn) was the Mess SGT,Phil Peirpoint (43 Fld Sup Sqn) mess Cpl,Max Crane and Taff Evans (Both from 37 Sqn) were mess barman.


Ray Hirsh
Ray was from Hackney,He was the senior sapper "the old man" he was only 27.Posted to the Squadron with Geordie Asquith from Singapore.
Dave Jones and Ian Mcpherson
Dave Jones From Leeds,he was a 432 driver and drove the Regimental command vehicle 0 alpha.I met up with Dave in 78 at Iserlohn. He was a Full Screw with 25 Fld Sqn.
Ian McPherson was the COs Driver. Ian Purchased his discharge in 1973.

Ian Mapherson
Ian in his Bob Dylan pose.I hope he can play the guitar better now! Ian was responsible for introducing the Squadron to The Gratefull Dead and Rod Stewart.
Ian and Dicke Dickinson
Dickie was a room mate for 3 years,He was From Douglas I.O.M. he married Patti in 1972,I last saw Dickie in 1974 at Barton Stacy I also met up with Chris Parker(clerk),we lost contact in the late 70's.

Geordie Parker
Geordie was in the same training party (69/11) and posted to the Traz at the same time.
Paul Monk
Paul was from the West Country,He was out MT Section Cpl.Posted to Tidworth as a Sgt,Then went to 29 Sqn.Now living in Totton near Southampton and works for the Local Goverment.
Ian Mcpherson
This photo was taken after a session in the Sqn Bar and our barrack room.
1973 MY WEDDING
Jim Read from Kent.Jim was Draugtsman and was my bestman at my wedding. Lost contact with Jim when he was posted to Tidworth.

Jim and Chris at our flat at Hasbergen nr Osnabruck.
For my 50th Birthday we went back to Osnabruck in December 2001.It was a shock to see that the Royal Engineers had gone from Roberts Barracks. They have been replaced by a Artillery Regiment. You will be pleased to know the Winkle still survives but sadly the "OXO" is now a shop.
